MTV Fires Alexa Chung

Maybe “fired” is a harsh word. It’s more like MTV is just not going to renew her contract when it expired early in 2010. This is surprising to me because Alexa the is the most interesting personality that MTV has employed in years. I mean, really..since the Carson Daly days can you name one single MTV host?

MTV has confirmed that “It’s On With Alexa Chung” will not be returning after its second-season finale Dec. 17. This news comes after the network hired a new senior vp of special programming and production. He has decided that a revamped program featuring interviews, musical guests and pop-culture news will premiere in January.

Apparently Alexa just wasn’t bringing in the numbers. The network even cut the original hour long show down to half an hour and gave a prime talk show 3:30 pm timeslot and the viewer still weren’t there.

MTV programming prexy Tony DiSanto told Daily Variety the cabler is “100% committed” to a studio-based, live pop-culture show with music and interviews, but indicated that the network is still searching for the right formula. (Read : Right on air personality)

“The difference between these (and scripted shows) is you have to develop these on the air,” said DiSanto, adding that “we make the changes until we settle on the show that’s what we want.”

ABC once again censor Adam Lambert gay kiss but show Lady GaGa in lesbian lip lock

[HMG] – ABC is now close to tying itself in a pretzel-like knot, desperately trying to ban any trace of Adam Lambert’s gay kiss from last month’s AMA’s, while flatly denying it has any problem with the very same thing.

Chosen as one of Barbra Walters’ “Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009″ which debuted last night, Adam and Babs discussed his life, career and that kiss at great length — but the 80-year old host avoided a clip, merely telling Adam he had, ‘turned the music industry inside out doing things we won’t show you here.”

Since Bab’s show aired ABC has been in full BS-mode, “It was an editorial decision to show little from the performance and focus on the new interview,” one of ABC’s trainee bigots told TMZ.

But while most of the interview revolved on that kiss…which they would not show, Babs did show a girl-on-girl kiss that involved Lady GaGa. But our friend, the pet flunky’s not done;

“We never had a problem showing the kiss. In fact we did not even edit it from the west coast feed of the show.” he explained.

No, they just banned Adam from ‘GMA’ the next day. And at least once more since that date. But to prove what an open-minded bunch ABC likes to think they all are, a Press Release added this;

“The network has a solid record of showing gay people in prime-time, which is why GLAAD gave us top honors for the positive portrayal of gays for the past several years.”

Let me translate that for you: ‘My neighbor’s, brother’s, best-friend’s son-in-law has a friend who went to school with someone who’s gay…and I don’t mind that at all…Honest!’

Those guys at the mouse-house really need to un-clench; Adam’s getting pilloried for doing the very same thing that wins Madonna endless exposure and voluminous praise.

But the kiss happened just four days before his first album came out, and all the free press it created must have really helped sales.

Not that this was the motive, of course[??]

Both network TV, and most of Hollywood still need to buy a stepladder and get over themselves…

Disney-owned ABC is now close to tying itself in a pretzel-like knot, desperately trying to ban any trace of Adam Lambert’s gay kiss from last month’s AMA’s, while flatly denying it has any problem with the very same thing.

Chosen as one of Barbra Walters’ “Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009″ which debuted last night, Adam and Babs discussed his life, career and the kiss at great length — but the 80-year old host refused to actually show the now infamous smooch, merely telling Adam he had, ‘turned the music industry inside out doing things we won’t show you here.”

Since then, ABC has been in full BS-mode. “It was an editorial decision to show very little from the performance and focus on the fresh, new interview with Adam Lambert.” says one of ABC’s trainee bigots.

But most of the interview revolved on that kiss…which they would not show. And Barbara did show a girl-on-girl kiss which involved Lady GaGa. But the flunky’s not done;

“We never had a problem showing the kiss, In fact we did not even edit it from the west coast feed of the show.”

No, they just banned Adam from ‘Good Morning America’ the very next day. And at least once more since that date.

But just to drive home what an open-minded group ABC wants us to think they all are, the Press Release added this, “The network has a solid record of showing gay people in prime-time, which is why GLAAD gave us top honors for the positive portrayal of gays for the past several years.”

Joanna Krupa Is An Angel For Animals

Joanna Krupa danced her way into America’s hearts this season on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. She’s made it clear that she would rather go naked than wear fur. Now, the internationally recognized model and actor can add “angel for animals” to her ever-growing résumé.

In her “Angel for Animals” PETA ad, Joanna urges people to always adopt and never buy animals from a pet store or breeder. Puppies sold in pet shops typically come from “puppy mills,” where dogs are raised in cruel conditions and forced to live in tiny, filthy metal cages without any socialization or exercise. They lack proper veterinary care and are often abandoned by breeders. Plus, every puppy or kitten who is bought prevents an animal in an animal shelter from finding a home.

See what else Joanna has to say about helping animals in her behind-the-scenes interview:

Hulk Hogan Ready To Marry Again

Hulk Hogan may be set to remarry - just four months after his bitter divorce was concluded - after hinting that he may about to wed girlfriend Jennifer McDaniel.

When asked about the stunning blonde, Hogan told cameras the "money shot" was on her left hand - a massive ring.

"You don't know the real story," Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, said. "That could be the next Mrs Hogan."

The wrestler's divorce to ex-wife Linda was finalised in July, after months of bitter public squabbling.

He is said to have been going out with make-up artist Jennifer - who is reportedly in her 20s and looks disturbingly similar to his daughter Brooke - since last April.

Sink your teeth into these unexpectedly juicy "Diaries"

What I am about to tell you is confidential and deeply personal. It will take a lot of will power and a good deal of humility. I may never get over the shame. Here goes: I totally love a show on the CW. No, not Gossip Girl. No, not 90210. No, not Melrose Tree Place or whatever the heck the other shows are called. No, I love The Vampire Diaries.

Hey, stop snickering. Now I realize I am on the outer limits of the show’s demographics. I am neither in high school nor a member of the undead. But I haven’t been able to resist a good vampire story since my parents got me a Dracula graphic novel back way before they were even called graphic novels. What? I wasn’t much into princess stories.

For us fangs, er I mean, fans of the show, this weeks starts a long dry spell until fresh episodes begin flowing again Jan. 14. To stem our cravings (too much with the vampire puns? Never!) the show will marathon all 10 current episodes back-to-back from Dec. 14 to 18.

Interview with The Units' Scott Ryser on Punk Before It Was Packaged, Devo, Synths As Real...

“The Quietus”:

Looking at fliers for your gigs you seemed to play several times with The Dead Kennedys. How did you get on with the punks and their audiences?

SR: With that question you make it seem like it was a “them vs us” situation… which just wasn’t the case. We ALL went to each other’s shows back then. Most times the audiences weren’t any larger than 300 people or so… and they were all in bands. We even jammed with a lot with people from other bands… dare I say, even with guitar players. And band members would transfer from band to band like it was a game of musical chairs.

At that time in SF the term new wave hadn’t been invented yet and punk had not been rigidly defined. Punk wasn’t relegated to a guitar, black leather jacket, tight pants and safety pins uniform (although I wore those things sometimes).

When the Dead Kennedys started, people in the scene didn’t just like them because they were a “guitar band”. People liked them because they were very creative and original and funny, from their “anti-fashion” down to their lyrics. Not only was Jello very political, he also had the ability to break down preconceived notions of the frontman formula and the audience/performer relationship. We could share a bill with them at that time because people weren’t looking for “punk uniforms”… people in the scene were looking for craziness and business-as-UNusual.
